Summer Learning Journey Week 3 - Activities 2

Activity 2: You are my Sunshine

People in New Zealand love spending time outdoors. Unfortunately, the sun is very powerful and the rates of skin cancer are incredibly high in New Zealand. In fact, they are higher than anywhere else in the entire world! To protect ourselves against skin cancer, we need to be careful about how much time we spend in the sun. We have to be ‘Sunsmart.’

Read the Sunsmart website.

On your blog, list five different things that we can do to protect ourselves from the sun this summer!

  1. Hello again Helena,

Thank you for sharing some ideas on how to protect ourselves under the sun. Do you usually like to spend time outside in nature? If so, where is your absolute favourite place to visit?

Remember to stay hydrated (drink lots of water) when you're participating in outdoor activities! I personally love to swim in the ocean during summer so this means I would have to re-apply my sunscreen once every few hours to make sure it doesn't get washed off.

The weather hasn't been too great but I hope you're enjoying the rest of your summer holidays!

    Take care,
    Susie
