Summer Learning Journey Week 3 - Day 5 Activities 1

DAY 5: Here to Stay

Activity 1: Persistent Pollution [4 points]
In 2016, the World Health Organisation announced that Timaru, a small town in the South Island of New Zealand, had the highest recorded levels of air pollution in New Zealand. Some of this pollution was caused by natural events (eg. fires) but most of it was produced (made) by humans.
Watch this short video on air pollution. It will tell you more about natural and human causes of pollution.

On your blog, share three new things that you learned about air pollution from this video.

What I have learned about Air Pollution

  1. Hi Helena,

Did you enjoy watching the short video clip on air pollution? The video mentions some important pieces of information about greenhouse gases, smog and toxic pollutants. You have done a good job summarising the essential facts.

How did you feel after watching this video? It made me feel like we should take extra care thinking about where everything comes from and how it affects our planet. We live in a very advanced world where almost everything is already made for us to use. Rather than becoming ignorant and denying the fact that this is all of our problem, everyone should try their best to make small changes in their lifestyle. This could help slow down air pollution - teamwork matters! What are your thoughts?

    Keep up the good work,
    Susie
